Sending my Prince Big Ears, with Camellia, to the Principality for a Diplomatic chat with Price "Thingy" over a glass of Madeira at the Molhe Restaurant (the only restaurant in the Principality) where Big Ears can also see one of the oldest English cranes, dating from 1845 at the bottom of the Principality steps. As the Principality is a piece of rock halfway along the harbour wall .. views of the French and German Navy can be spied upon.. as well as the Porto Santo Ferry. Perhaps we can exchange gifts .. a Bol de Mel for a piece of Brighton Rock..

Whilst the Prince of Pontinha is obviously a little eccentric he is great fun to talk with. He may desire independence and would like to exercise his rights to a 200 mile exclusion zone around his 'principality' but he's not shy of taking the electricity and access from the mainland. A fun guy who likes blowing his own trumpet.

Portugal should send in ONE soldier to take the "principality" back. What a load of rubbish! Does this idiot really think anyone is impressed?

It is, while romantic, of course utter bollocks. The goodly Prince is also selling aristocratic titles to 'the principality' for several thousand pounds, prior to Portugal agreeing to succession. I may also add that at less than 400 square meters, the principality of Pontinha is smaller than the average two bedroom apartment, has a declared population of four (presumably pigeons, the structures on the rock are ruins) and a GDP of...nil. The referred relations with Brasil may buy, possibly, a lifebelt or a few bags of cement to mend the tiny landing post. Anyone buying a "baronecy" or "lordship" should beware. I admire the con, but it's utter nonsense.

The principality of Pontinha is perhaps the country with the highest average IQ in the World, and therefore a very important scientific partner for any research institution around. This is why the Ship Reconstruction Laboratory at Texas A&M University has established formal relations with this young and promissing nation.
